Success Isn't Magic - Do More of What Worked in 2013!!
Success isn’t magic, though sometimes when we look at others’ lives it can appear that way. What I know is that every successful business woman takes time to plan for her success. In fact, Katrina Sawa, Marketing Coach extraordinaire, once shared that 1 hour of planning saves 6 hours of WORK!!
Where to start? With your TA-Da’s or successes from 2013. List 2 or 3 successes. That’s right – Give yourself credit for what you have achieved. So often we’re focused on what’s not done or what’s needing attention that we gloss over our results. Once you’ve got your list breathe and take in the successes!! Yeah you!!
Next, make a list of what didn’t work. One simple rule is to do more of what worked and less of what didn’t!! That tip comes from Scott Adams of Dilbert Comic strip fame. In his book How to Fail at Almost Everything and Still Win Big!, he lists the failures he’s had there were LOTS! However his optimism never failed him. I remember Mark Victor Hanson, author of the Chicken Soup series who said with every “No” he heard when selling insurance he would say NEXT. Let’s learn what we need from our mistakes and PLAN on doing more of what works!!
Now, set 3-5 goals for what you want to achieve this year. Don’t play it safe – take risks – get out there! Email me and let me know your goals and here’s to the magic of successful planning for you!!

First of all – Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas to everyone. This newsletter goes out to almost 800 women and I am happy and grateful to have a strong following.
Completions: I hope 2013 has been kind and happy enough and not too challenging. Challenges help us grow, but there’s a limit.
It’s been a whirlwind for me. Family challenges were plentiful until about August. My beautiful sister Lane passed away, in-laws re-settled in assisted living (writing it is simple – but for any that have helped with this transition – wow – take notes on how you’d like your later years to be !!). My brother Lee got sober and committed to N.A. and is doing great. Yeah Lee!
New Beginnings: Business is brisk and I’m excited about not only seeing clients in person, but really figuring out the challenge of how to connect with women in business on the web and through social media. My lovely assistant Lu and I are ON IT!!
Look for a new website re-do in January www.joywithmoney.com and a NEW webinar Program in later March JOY with Money for Women in Business. Women need to put their foot on the GAS Pedal (& keep it there) to make the Money that fits your desired lifestyle and have FUN in the process.

3 Steps to Change Fear with Money to JOY with Money
I know this isn’t easy, but the first you need to do is just name what your worst fear is. Go, ahead. There, you’ve said it. Doesn’t it feel better to get that fear out of the closet and set it out on the table where you can see it’s not really the scary monster you were imaging. Or, maybe it is still scary, but once owned you’ve already taken the first step.
There are an alarming number of women who say “becoming a bag lady” is their worst fear. That’s frightening. But let’s say your fear is not quite that extreme. You might name going broke, bankrupt, losing your home, your job or having overwhelming debt. Awful enough, all of these.
The #1 mistake most make with money fears is AVOIDANCE. If you’re this person, take a breath. You’re in good company. But avoidance doesn’t solve the problem - it actually makes it worse.
Here’s are 3 Steps to Move Money Fear towards Money JOY:
1) Name the money challenge: Believe it or not once you’ve named the problem you’ve begun FACING the problem. Whew – Isn’t it better already?
2) Name the feelings underneath the money challenge. Please don’t leave out this step. It’s common for guilt and shame to be at the top of our feeling list and we humans HATE feeling vulnerable. But according to Brine’ Brown, author of Daring Greatly, vulnerability is one of our greatest strengths. Feelings__________________ If we block our pain, we also block or numb our JOY.
3) Write down one practical step towards solution of the money challenge. For example: If it’s debt, google debt consolidation companies, ask friends for references, contact a bankruptcy attorney to see what your options are.
Just take each challenge 1 at a time. You’ll get there if you do something each day and stay focused on the end result.

AH….I’m on vacation in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Yes, I’m working a little – not much and enjoying TIME with hubby Dave. We sit by the pool and read, play Scrabble (he wins) and Cribbage (I win) and walk on the beach, take naps. The biggest decision all day? “Where are we going to dinner?”
